Gift Responsibly Campaign from the NCPG receives record support

The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) is reaching new heights in its effort to garner support for youth gambling awareness.

The NCPG has reported a record 74 lotteries and 101 community organizations that have promised their participation in the council’s 2024 Gift Responsibly Campaign. The campaign, supported by the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, raises awareness of the risks of purchasing lottery tickets for children.

The 2024 Gift Responsible Campaign will have participation from major U.S. lotteries, including the California State Lottery, New Jersey Lottery and Hoosier Lottery. Regulators, including the New York State Gaming Commission, are also participating.

GRAI & ASA Ireland to monitor gambling advertising conduct

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) has partnered with the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASA Ireland) to monitor standards and conduct in gambling advertising.

The GRAI will officially begin overseeing Ireland’s betting industry by mid-2025, following the approval of the Gambling Regulation Bill (GRB) in October.

This legislation establishes the GRAI as the regulatory authority of Irish gambling, with a mandate to oversee gambling advertising, messaging, and engagement with the general public.

EGBA reports record participation for European Safer Gambling Week

The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has reported record participation for its fourth annual European Safer Gambling Week.

The 2024 campaign took place between 18 and 24 November across social media and with special events, highlighting safer gambling messaging and resources and encouraging industry collaboration.

The EGBA noted that European Safer Gambling Week 2024 achieved record participation with 195 partners, up 20% compared to 2023. Eight national gambling authorities took part, more than double the previous year, by participating in the social media campaign or speaking at events.

In total, the campaign reached 26 countries, a 30% increase year-over-year, with partners in Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine joining for the first time. Social media graphics were also available in the local languages of 27 countries.

Human Services in NJ awards $720K in problem gambling contracts

The New Jersey Department of Human Services is providing treatment and services to residents with gambling disorders through a series of state-funded contracts.

The Department of Human Services has announced that it is awarding $720,000 worth of state-funded contracts to six organizations across the Garden State. The state-funded contracts, which are for $120,000 each, have been awarded to three Legacy Treatment Services locations, Integrity Inc., Monmouth Medical Center and Eva’s Village, Inc.
