KSA continues CRUKS advertising campaign

Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Netherlands’ Gambling Authority, has launched an advertising campaign that raises the awareness of self-exclusion for gambling.

The “pack your life again, take a gambling stop’ initiative is a continuation of KSA’s pilot self-exclusion marketing of the national CRUKS register from last year.

The primary target group of the new campaign is young adults who may be experiencing problem gambling behaviour. Therefore, the marketing efforts behind the awareness initiative are all largely focused on social media rather than traditional media outlets.
Across the online videos, social ads and posts, a number of young people can be seen interacting with others in various social situations, implicating the importance of interpersonal relationships and how losing control over gambling can harm them.
Operated by the KSA, CRUKS was launched back in 2021 as part of the Dutch government’s mandate of the Remote Gambling Act (KOA) to regulate the online gambling market…

Entain hit with compliance allegations in Australia

An investigation has begun in Australia over allegations that Entain brands Ladbrokes and NEDs fell short when it comes to compliance.

It is alleged that the operator had “serious and systemic non-compliance” with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) laws.

Brendan Thomas, CEO of AUSTRAC, stated: “We allege that Entain failed to develop and maintain a compliant anti-money laundering programme and did not adequately identify or assess the risks it faced. This, in turn, left the company exposed to serious risks of criminal exploitation.”

The watchdog deems that Entain’s brands are vulnerable to criminal exploitation, including fraud, scams, and corruption. Allegations against Entain include:

A lack of appropriate oversight of its AML/CTF programme by the board and senior management.

As the landscape unfolds the NHS will be positioned as the Chief Commissioner with the goal of improving the accessibility, quality, and impact of services tackling gambling-related harms by addressing the individual needs of local communities.

Videoslots accused of AML failures in Sweden

Sweden’s gambling authority Spelinspektionen has fined Videoslots after considering the online casino operator to be guilty of various AML failures.

The regulator suggests that the online casino operator had deployed “insufficient” customer awareness measures, leading to several deficiencies when it comes to document and information preservation.

Initial orders entailed that Videoslots must pay a fine of SEK 9m (£649k) in damages, but based on a subsequent review which constituted that the violations were not systematic, the fine was brought down to SEK 4m (£288k).

Videoslots has been a license holder since 2018, operating under the Swedish Gambling Act as a supplier of commercial online gambling.

After uncovering the violations, Spelinspektionen proceeded with the production of a penalty fee in accordance with Swedish law. In the regulator’s words, due to the difficulty of calculating how much Videoslots had profited off the back of the infringement, the sanction could have no..
