KSA: Dutch account figures may be due to deposit limit dodging

The number of accounts in the Dutch online gambling market rose in the first half of 2026, but the Netherlands gaming authority has warned that players may be ‘creating multiple accounts to circumvent deposit limits per account’.

Deposit limits of €350 per month for adults and €150 for young adults (aged 18-23) have been in place in the Netherlands since October 2024. Higher limits can be set, but players must contact the operator.

Although the number of Dutch online providers declined in 2025 and GSR largely dipped, the number of online gambling accounts increased in H1 2026 to 1.48 million (H2 2025: 1.38 million). 22% of all used accounts were young adults aged 18-23.

However, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) noted that the number of people who gamble occasionally hasn’t increased significantly, as the authority estimates this number to be approximately 490,000 per month, while around 820,000 people have participated in online gambling at some point in the first half of the year.
